brain drain
Related to country: India

I am from India. I have seen that theres been a great amount of brain drain from our country past a decade. Not only is our country financially weak but also has a huge population. A large population has various ill-effects. Although the brain drain taking place is worsning the conditions. All the intellegencia and master minds are flying off to alien lands like dust particles. This is an issue of matter. From one side the brainy people of India leave the home land for their own personal motives and benifits and on the other hand corruption, pride etc prevails amongst masses which also is a reason for such a condition. What can be done, is the question?

re: brain drain
I remember from my days in India how ready people, especially students, were to criticise their own country and its failings. On the whole, this seemed to me much healthier than the tendency in many other countries to wag flags and feel proudly superior. The important thing is never to lose sight of your own goals and values and, through organisations like TIG for example, to help raise awareness all round. I admire those who stay put when many of their friends go off to places that seem more attractive.
